Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift role requiring a NE or compact license and at least 2 years of stepdown experience.
Responsibilities
Position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within an acute care hospitalStepdown setting caring for adult and geriatric populationsTypical patient conditions include cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoringUnit capacity is 35 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4-5RNs are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medicationsCharting is done using Epic EMR; prior Epic experience is preferred but not required12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)Every other weekend and every third holiday requiredNo on-call requirementFloating may occur to medical floors, ICU, or rehabUnit has charge nurses and is supported by nurse aides or patient care techniciansOrientation consists of onboarding during the first week and 1-2 days of unit-specific trainingA positive attitude, critical thinking, and strong communication and problem-solving skills are highly valuedArtificial fingernails are not permitted in patient care areasUp to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) per 13-week contract may be approved if requested up front; no additional RTO is approvedMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligibleFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyRequirements
Active NE or compact RN license required; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years of recent stepdown or PCU experienceCertifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Driver’s license required for consideration to verify 50-mile radius eligibilityCandidates may not be currently or recently (past 12 months) employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or DignityReferences : one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years requiredPass an open book skills exam with 90% or higher during orientationBenefits
