The essential function of the position within the organization is to conduct general maintenance of City parks and grounds.

Examples of Duties

This list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.

• Cuts grass with power equipment, commercial riding mowers and weed eaters.
• Operates a variety of hand tools and power equipment.
• Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, and other debris. Cleans, maintains and services equipment and tools.
• Conducts field preparation and maintenance by removing debris, pruning, mowing, and weed removal. Picks up trash in the parks areas and disposes of it properly.

Safety of others refers to the responsibility for other people's safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public. Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and / or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.

Typical Qualifications

Education Requirements : Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Required : Driver's License REQUIRED.

Experience Requirements : No prior experience is required.

Physical demands : Performs medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
