SYSTEMS MIGRATION SPECIALIST

W2 CONTRACT

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient IT Systems Migration Specialist to support enterprise-wide virtual machine (VM) migration initiatives. This role will be responsible for planning, executing, and validating VM migrations across enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of virtualization technologies, basic scripting capabilities, and a strong commitment to system integrity and uptime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform virtual machine migrations across diverse environments, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and application teams to coordinate migration schedules and dependencies.
• Develop and maintain migration documentation, including runbooks, validation checklists, and rollback procedures.
• Utilize scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline migration workflows.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues during and after migrations.
• Ensure all migration activities comply with established change management procedures, including proper documentation, approvals, and communication.
• Participate in post-migration reviews and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems administration, with a focus on virtualization.
• Familiarity with major hypervisor platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.) and enterprise storage systems.
• Basic scripting skills in one or more languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring and ticketing systems is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of networking fundamentals and storage protocols.
• Experience with automation tools or orchestration platforms.
