Physician Assistant – Cardiothoracic Surgery II

Join Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital’s Cardiothoracic Surgery team! We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to provide advanced care for patients undergoing complex cardiac and thoracic procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with 2 experienced APPs and 3 attending surgeons.

Responsibilities

• Manage cardiothoracic surgery patients across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases, including follow-up after discharge.
• Round in ICU and inpatient floors (typical patient load per PA : 2–3).
• Perform patient evaluations, place orders, and maintain accurate EMR documentation (progress notes, consultations, discharge summaries, patient education).
• Operating Room Duties :
• Conduit harvesting for CABG (endoscopic and open vein and radial artery).
• First assist during cardiac and thoracic cases (CABG, valve repair / replacement, aortic aneurysm / dissection surgeries).
• Cross-coverage for thoracic cases (open and minimally invasive esophagectomies, lung resections via VATS).
• Clinic Duties :
• Office visits, minor procedures, patient / family education, and follow-up care.
