Scope Of Position

  • The full pay range for this role is $133,000 - $221,700 annually. We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.

    This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership for HSES in AO, and worker's compensation across the entire organization, including the oversight of AO HSES programs and functions including but not limited to developing and managing the department field budget and business functions, developing, supporting, and promoting programs in the advancement of a safe and healthy environment for employees and contractors; developing policies, procedures and programs necessary to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations across the US and Canada operating sites. This position plays a lead role in directing the Safety Culture throughout the EDF PS Asset Optimization organization.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities :

  • Directly supervises the field safety team in functioning as subject matter experts in health and safety matters, providing professional advice and guidance to the EDF ps field organization to drive safe practices at all levels.
  • Develops policies, procedures, and programs necessary to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations across the United States and Canada.
  • Develop and implement strategic, business, financial and operational plans for the H&S AO Team to ensure proper coordination and cost effectiveness in support of EDF PS AO's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with the AO leadership community to ensure a health and safety framework that supports AO efforts and is consistently responsive to the organization's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supervision of Others : Position has direct reports residing in multiple states within the US as well as Canada.

    Working Conditions : 50% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software / programs), phones, and general office equipment. 50% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors' and / or internal customers' sites in addition to attending various conferences and meetings.

    Fiscal Responsibilities : Position will have direct oversight and responsibility for preparing and maintaining a 1 MM plus annual budget.

    Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in science, Engineering or related Environmental Health and Safety disciplines from an accredited institution, Masters degree in Safety or related field preferred.
  • One or more professional certifications in the field of safety (CSP), hazardous materials (CHMM), and / or industrial hygiene (CIH).
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and support safety programs across the US and Canada.
  • Strong project management, organizational skills and knowledge of best management practices pertaining to the principles of safety in the energy field, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ability to independently manage long-term projects, create budget and timelines, identify contributors, and map process for completion.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others to improve safety outcomes and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to drive and close safety investigations and recommend outcomes that support and build the EDF ps safety culture in field locations.
  • Ability to identify, attract, retain, grow, and evaluate talent. Ability to achieve results through others.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with EDF leadership community, EDF Customers and regulatory agencies, and government officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a high-stress, high stakes environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, and knowledge of various Microsoft software programs including but not limited to Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint (Office Suite)
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout North America, or internationally as required or directed.
  • Due to the role and responsibilities of HSES, the incumbent must have a valid driver's license and DMV record that demonstrates compliance with motor vehicle laws and safe driving practices during their entire time in this position, as permitted by state law.
  • Must have a valid passport for international travel.

  • Physical Requirements :

  • This position will perform work activities in a typical office environment that requires sitting, standing, and walking for up to 9 hours per day.
  • There will be a need to travel to sites and it will require the ability to work at heights, including climbing and descending towers of various heights. This includes passing initial Functional Capacity Examination, climb test and related training.
