Pacific Rail Services is looking for full-time employees to join our team at the BNSF Portland, OR Terminal!

This is an On-The-Job-Training opportunity that allows those who need some additional skills for the job to be hired and trained on the job with a starting earning potential of $50,000- $65,000 in your first year with overtime pay factored in.   Your starting rate depends on your experience.  You will learn how to drive and park a 53 ft trailer with a jockey truck and you will also learn the in's and out's of being a ground person walking along the railroad tracks climbing on and off of rail cars. On the job training is also available to become a forklift operator and crane operator if the employee in the position of Jockey Driver / Ground person proves to be a safe and dependable employee. Room for advancement. We run 24 / 7 / 365 day facilities.

Pay :

  • $19.80 / hr.
    • Shift :
  • 6am or 6pm.
  • 10 hour shifts.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Drive company vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Spotting and parking of Intermodal freight trailers.
  • Locking and unlocking of Intermodal freight trains.
  • Be safety-minded and follow the rules and regulations.

    • Physical Responsibilities :

  • Climb in and out of vehicles numerous times throughout the shift.
  • Alternate between walking and sitting.
  • Constant climbing, stooping, twisting, and turning while performing Groundperson duties.

    • Applicants for the Jockey Driver / Groundperson position must meet the general requirements for employment with the company, according to the Company hiring process which include :

  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass a 7-year background check. Any felonies in the last 7 years of jail time in the last 5 years will disqualify applicants.
  • Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test.
  • Must be able to pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.
  • (No GED or diploma required).
