Investment Stewardship Program Specialist

Prepare for, and meet with, portfolio company leaders on topics related to board composition, oversight of strategy and risk, executive compensation, and shareholder rights. Develop a thorough understanding of Vanguard's investment stewardship philosophy and guidelines as well as an expertise in select corporate governance areas, such as board composition and evolution, executive compensation, governance structures, and risk management.

Deliver voting and engagement outcomes, in line with Vanguard's proxy voting policies, through research on corporate governance topics, complex analyses, and a solid understanding of Vanguard's investment stewardship philosophy.

Demonstrate comfort with ambiguity on complex thematic areas including a variety of corporate governance topics. Demonstrate willingness to continually build expertise in evolving corporate governance, equity sector, and material risk areas.

Cultivate difference by engaging in team discussions and offering candid, well-reasoned perspectives. Collaborate well across our global program to drive outcomes.

Assign and monitor the completion of deliverables, including developing and reviewing proxy voting decisions for Vanguard's internally managed holdings and preparation of portfolio company engagement materials.

Review company disclosures and other available research to analyze complex proposals against Vanguard's proxy voting guidelines and present relevant recommendations to management.

Review individual analysis and proxy voting recommendations produced by other crew members for proposals that are routine to moderately complex in nature.

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with business partners and vendors. Proactively communicate with stakeholders and business partners, including presentation of ideas and recommendations.

Lead projects within the department and develop ideas for initiatives to improve outcomes, increase operational efficiency, and reduce risk.

Mentor and provide feedback to less experienced crew members on application of Vanguard's proxy voting guidelines, engagement preparation materials or general governance topics.

Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• Business or investment experience.
• Demonstrated willingness to contribute to the overall success of the team and to Vanguard and its shareholders.
• Demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, ambiguous environment, managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and diverse responsibilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve the best results.
• Demonstrated ability in using sound business judgement to identify risks and navigate ambiguous scenarios.
• Minimum of three years related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Some project management experience preferred.
