Customer Service Specialist - Medical Equipment Services
Location : Fully On-Site - Face-to-Face Customer Service
Core Hours : Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM (1-hour lunch)
On-Call Rotation : Once every 6 weeks (Saturday & Sunday, 9 AM-9 PM) | Once hired direct
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Customer Service Specialist to join our team in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment. This role involves direct interaction with patients, physicians, and insurance providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medical equipment and services.
Key Responsibilities
Handle inbound and outbound calls with professionalism and empathy
Create and manage patient orders based on physician referrals
Educate patients on financial responsibilities and insurance coverage
Verify insurance eligibility, co-pays, deductibles, and obtain pre-authorizations
Navigate multiple EMR systems to retrieve and input documentation
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company procedures
Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding insurance trends and patient needs
Resolve customer concerns and provide solutions with compassion
Meet performance metrics including quality assurance and responsiveness
Required Skills
Strong customer service and communication skills
Familiarity with medical insurance processes
Understanding of medical terminology and durable medical equipment
Ability to manage multiple systems and tasks efficiently
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Patience and empathy, especially when working with elderly patients
Conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a medical or clinical setting
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
Background in respiratory therapy or currently pursuing a related degree
Experience with EPIC or BrightTree software
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00 / hr.
