LeMar Industries Structural Engineer Internship

This position is a member of the Des Moines LeMar Engineering Team. This position will help in the design of high-quality structural products for our customers.

Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:

• Assist in exploring/developing updates to current structural product lines.

• Assist in updating sample calculations for structural products.

• Assist in building tools to make project estimation/quoting as well as engineering design faster.

• Gain experience using building codes such as ASCE 7, IBC, OSHA 1910, etc.

• Gain experience calculating structural loads and strengths of steel members and connections.

• Gain experience reading structural drawings.

• Gain experience checking shop drawings, such as weld details, dimensions, and tolerances.

• Observe the steel fabrication process, taking engineered designs and seeing them take shape.
