Your role as a CT Imaging Specialist is crucial in delivering high-quality patient care while operating advanced imaging technology.
This position involves proficiency in all aspects of CT scanning and patient care. You will perform a variety of radiologic procedures at a technical level, taking on responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. This role requires frequent interaction with acutely ill patients and exposure to interventional procedures, body fluids, and radiation.
Responsibilities
- Educate patients about their exams, complete intravenous contrast worksheets, and gather allergy history.
- Prepare rooms, ensuring clean linens, and loading and arming power injectors.
- Maintain proficiency in IV starts according to Radiology Nurse Guidelines.
- Assist patients physically on and off the scanner table.
- Facilitate patient flow efficiently, including prioritizing and accommodating inpatients, emergency room patients, and urgent outpatients.
- Utilize technical expertise to acquire high-quality diagnostic scans, adjusting technical factors as needed for patient age, weight, and body habitus.
- Consistently produce diagnostic quality radiographs through proper technical factors and patient positioning.
- Complete all paperwork and patient documentation accurately and timely, including exam charging and patient insurance (i.e. Day Log, PACS, and Teleradiology Solutions).
- Accurately annotate regions of interest (ROIs), measurements, reconstructions, and reformations.
- Maintain effective communication with team members and other departments to enhance patient care.
- Safely operate all equipment according to manufacturer specifications and under safe radiation guidelines.
- Follow all procedures for safe patient interactions and body mechanics.
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling hazardous materials and bloodborne pathogens.
- Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department / unit.
Qualifications
Education :
High school graduate or G.E.D. required. Graduation from an ARRT accredited program in radiologic technology is essential.
Experience :
1 to 2 years of experience in a CT department is preferred, along with previous radiographic experience.
Licensure :
Must hold a current Connecticut State license in Radiography and hold a BLS certification.
Special Skills :
Candidates must be ARRT (R) and (CT) registered, with the exception of those in a cross-training program who must obtain their advanced CT registry within 10 months after completing the training.
