About the Team
The Product and Business Engineering organization manages Stripe's core financial products, develops tools for efficient payment acceptance and risk management, provides a consistent developer experience, and creates solutions that empower businesses to optimize their revenue operations.
- Money as a Service (MaaS) : Oversees core products that facilitate the global movement and management of funds. Includes Connect & Accounts, MMS, Crypto, and BaaS (Treasury and Issuing).
- Payments and Risk : Builds APIs and platforms for efficient payment processing, regional payment options, and in-person payment solutions. Works to minimize financial and regulatory risks.
- Developer Experience and Product Platform (DEeP) : Empowers all Stripe products with a shared platform to deliver consistent, scalable developer experiences across UI and API surfaces.
- Revenue and Financial Automation (RFA) : Provides a unified stack for billing, tax, reporting, and data services to improve cash‑flow efficiency and support revenue growth.
Responsibilities
Lead engineering and design processes, coaching, mentoring, and supporting your team as they build innovative solutions.Collaborate with product, design, infrastructure, marketing, and operations to align on projects and strategy, shaping the team’s roadmap.Own problems from end to end by managing diverse systems and technologies, continually seeking opportunities to optimize efficiency and user experience.Maintain high engineering standards, ensuring consistency across codebases and implementing best practices.Recruit top engineering talent in partnership with Stripe’s recruiting team to build a diverse, high‑performing team.Support team members’ career growth by providing insights and tailored development opportunities.Minimum Requirements
4+ years of engineering management experience, directly managing and growing teams of 5+ engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale.8+ years of full‑time software development experience.Experience building extensible, leveraged software solutions that scale to different user needs, and a strong focus on user experience.Strong problem‑solving skills, with a history of tackling complex challenges creatively.Background dealing with ambiguity and executing on multiple high‑impact work streams simultaneously.Commitment to fostering a supportive, feedback‑driven work environment.Technical proficiency to engage thoughtfully with engineers on architecture and product design.A mindset of autonomy and entrepreneurship, excited to take responsibility and drive initiatives forward.Preferred Qualifications
Strong product and design sense, enjoying elegant solutions to complex problems.Thrived in cross‑functional environments, demonstrating rigorous thinking, effective decision‑making, and strong cross‑team relationships.Experience building and leading a distributed team that works across multiple locations and time zones.Hybrid Work
This role is available either in an office or a remote location (35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office). Our expectation is that you will work from home rather than a Stripe office unless you choose to travel to an office for meetings and events.
Pay and Benefits
The annual US base salary range for this role is $214,500–$321,800. Additional benefits include equity, company bonus or sales commissions, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends. Pay is aligned with candidate experience, qualifications, and location.
