SUMMARY :
Programs, sets up and operates Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) in order to make complex, precise measurements of the requisite materials and parts. The individual performs visual and dimensional inspection on parts to determine their accuracy to parts specifications. Training and mentors other CMM operators in CMM inspection techniques.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This individual has the responsibility and authority to carryout assigned tasks.
- Sets up and operates CMM in order to make complex, precise measurements of materials and parts.
- Reads and interprets specifications, blueprints, templates and layouts for product tolerances and dimensions.
- Verified conformance of parts to specifications and blueprints with respect to measurements.
- Provide manufacturing with 1st piece and in-process data to ensure parts conformance.
- Writes or modifies existing programs and creates new ones as required.
- Interprets measurement output data and graphic data.
- Work with engineering, machinists and quality assurance personnel to trouble shoot, research and solve technical problems.
- Train other employees in CMM technology and application.
- Generates alternate CMM Programs to Support First Article Inspection Reports and Production CMM Program validation.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Technical certificate in related field required, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.Must have a minimum of 3+ years experience in a manufacturing – aerospace environment.Must have good communications skills, written / verbal, with all levels of personnel.Must have excellent computer skills.SPECIAL SKILLS

Must have knowledge and ability to program CMM’s using PC-DMIS software.Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and other technical data including geometric dimensioning and tolerance.Proficient in use of precision measuring tools.Strong mathematical and mechanical skills.Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, CNC equipment, quality standards and rework processes.Experience with quality systems and their application.Must have problem solving skills and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organizationWORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, chemicals and cleaning solutions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moderate cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually nominal.
