The position is located at 3759 46th St, Hamilton, MI 49419. As permitted under the Barbara Farmer Memo, the employee may be assigned to alternate unanticipated worksites in Allegan,

Ottawa, and VanBuren counties. No regular travel is expected.

JOB DUTIES : Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing animal health and reproduction programs for commercial swine operation. Specific duties include : (1) developing, implementing, and managing animal health and welfare, including administering vaccinations of sows and piglets, examining animals to detect symptoms of illness or injury, and treating sick, injured, or lame animals; (2) developing, implementing, and managing animal reproduction programs, including performing artificial insemination, detecting heat and pregnancy, selecting animals for farrow, monitoring / assisting sows during labor, and analyzing reproductive efficiencies; (3) as necessary, euthanizing animals using company-approved techniques; (4) developing, evaluating, and managing daily activities and processes related to iso-wean pig production including gilt development, breeding, gestation, and farrowing; (5) performing timely and accurate recordkeeping of animal health and reproduction activities; (6) maintaining biosecurity policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related.
