Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Ashland, Wisconsin | Full-Time

$5,000 Sign-On Incentive Available

Position Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides a full range of respiratory care services, including invasive and non-invasive ventilator management, ambulance transport support, hemodynamic monitoring, and comprehensive diagnostic testing. The RRT plays a key role in assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with cardiopulmonary conditions in critical care, acute care, and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Perform emergency and critical care respiratory therapy functions.
  • Manage and monitor ventilator and BiPAP systems.
  • Conduct patient ventilator assessments and provide airway management.
  • Administer CPR and other resuscitative measures.
  • Deliver and evaluate therapeutic procedures, oxygen therapy, and patient education.
  • Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities.

Diagnostics & Monitoring

  • Perform and interpret EKGs, cardiac stress tests, Holter / event monitors, and EEGs.
  • Conduct pulmonary function testing (PFTs), including body plethysmography and FENO testing.
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis.
  • Assist with arterial blood pressure and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Manage apnea monitors and related respiratory equipment.

    • Equipment & Technology

  • Ensure all respiratory and diagnostic equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and safe to use.
  • Participate in regular equipment rounds and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain competency with hospital computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR).

    • Qualifications

  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC); must actively pursue RRT credential if not yet obtained.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Wisconsin (within 3 months of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire; must remain current.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
