Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job Description
The Quality Engineer provides advanced technical expertise, leadership, and customer-facing support for the Quality Management System. This role serves as a subject matter expert for AS9100 compliance, advanced root cause analysis, process capability, supplier quality performance, and major customer escalations. The Quality Engineer leads high-impact initiatives, mentors quality engineering staff, supports regulatory audits, and drives long-term continuous improvement across the site.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations, ensure robust corrective actions, and present outcomes to customers and executive leadership.
- Serve as the primary customer interface for escalated quality issues, audits, and product nonconformances.
- Lead major process improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Develop and maintain advanced quality control plans, risk analyses, PFMEA, and control strategies.
- Oversee FAIR compliance for new product introduction and major program transitions.
- Drive supplier quality performance and support supplier corrective actions.
- Analyze process capability and lead statistical studies to improve yield and reduce variation.
- Establish site-level quality KPIs and present performance to leadership.
- Mentor and guide QE I/II engineers and quality technicians.
- Support regulatory, customer, and third-party audits as a subject matter expert.
Essential Skills
- Advanced knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001, customer/regulatory expectations, and risk-based quality systems.
- Expert-level problem solving with mastery of advanced statistical tools and methods.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at all levels including executive and customer.
- Deep understanding of process capability, PFMEA, control plans, and design validation.
- Proven experience in leading major customer escalations and regulatory audits.
- High-level communication skills, including executive reporting and customer presentations.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop QE I/II engineers and cross-functional personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-impact projects and drive long-term improvements.
- Strong strategic thinking aligned to continuous improvement and quality system maturity.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field required; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or equivalent regulated industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in AS9100 compliance, root cause analysis, and statistical methods.
- Experience in customer and regulatory audit leadership roles required.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of both office and manufacturing settings, offering a fast-paced and deadline-driven atmosphere. The engineering team comprises 32 people across all skill sets, with ongoing expansion due to new contracts. The dress code is business casual, including polo/button-down shirts with jeans or slacks. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
