A rapidly growing advanced manufacturing organization is hiring a Mechanical Designer to support the development of engineered equipment used in highly technical, mission-critical environments.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who can translate requirements into accurate 3D models and technical drawings that directly support manufacturing, assembly, and installation. You will work closely with production, quality, engineering, and suppliers to develop practical, cost-effective design solutions and ensure documentation is clear, controlled, and build-ready.
Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and submittal packages in alignment with project requirements and internal standards
Support manufacturing by resolving design-related build issues and updating drawings to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency
Partner with Quality to investigate nonconformities, support corrective actions, and provide design solutions when customer communication is required
Select mechanical components and materials, working with suppliers and external partners to evaluate options and refine concepts
Interpret design briefs, specifications, and applicable standards to develop practical and innovative product solutions
Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, including design updates, improvements, and change implementation
Produce detail, assembly, and arrangement drawings required for equipment to be manufactured, assembled, installed, and maintained
Develop layouts to define dimensions, tolerances, clearances, and proper component fit and function
Maintain controlled documentation including drawing revisions and Bills of Materials (BOMs) in an organized and traceable manner
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline
Practical experience using at least one 3D CAD software package (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or similar)
Autodesk Inventor experience is a plus, but not required (training may be available for strong candidates)
Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Ability to clearly communicate technical design concepts to cross-functional teams (production, quality, purchasing, sales, etc.)
Comfortable managing multiple priorities under deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
Strong organizational and time-management skills with disciplined documentation practices
Able to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment
Commitment to safety standards, documentation best practices, and company policies
