Position Description : Lead Budtender / Event Coordinator
Job Summary
The Lead Budtender and Event Coordinator is a dual-role position responsible for supervising the retail floor staff, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and independently planning and executing dispensary events. This position requires a blend of management, sales, compliance, and event planning skills to drive community engagement, increase sales, and uphold all regulatory standards.
Supervisory and Retail Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to the budtender team to foster a positive and knowledgeable work environment.
Serve as a point of escalation for complex customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Oversee daily retail operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register management.
Ensure the sales floor, displays, and products are clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
Perform accurate inventory tracking and intake, and assist management with compliance audits.
Maintain a current and in-depth knowledge of all cannabis products, including strains, consumption methods, and effects, to provide personalized customer consultations.
Ensure strict adherence to all state and local cannabis regulations during every transaction and operation.
Event Planning and Execution Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and execute a calendar of in-store and community events to increase customer loyalty and drive dispensary sales.
Manage all event logistics, including vendor communication, promotional activities, and on-site setup and breakdown.
Collaborate with marketing to create promotional materials and marketing campaigns for upcoming events.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and community partners to secure special deals and sponsorships.
Track event budgets and analyze post-event metrics to measure success and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure all promotional activities and events comply with cannabis advertising and event regulations.
Required Skills and QualificationsMinimum 21 years of age
Experience : Proven experience in a lead budtender or supervisory retail role, combined with a background in event planning or coordination.
Knowledge : Extensive knowledge of cannabis products, industry trends, and compliance regulations.
Customer Service : Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of resolving customer issues and building relationships.
Organization : Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.
Tech-Savvy : Proficiency with Point-of-Sale (POS) software, inventory management systems, and event management platforms.
Compliance : Deep understanding of state and local cannabis laws and regulations.
Education : High school diploma or equivalent; additional cannabis certifications or event planning training is a plus.
This role requires the applicant to be physically out of the store and in the community on a regular basis to establish partnerships within the surrounding areas.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Work is performed in a retail environment and requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods and to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Prolonged periods of sitting or standing andbending and kneeling to obtain products for customers and to maintain the visualappearance of the store. Employees should be able to lift 10 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
