Accountant Position
Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion for accounting? We are seeking a dedicated Accountant to join an organization in Madison, WI. In this role, you will support a variety of accounting, payroll, and administrative functions while working closely with senior leadership on process improvements and compliance.
Accounting Duties :
- Reconcile monthly bank statements and balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries (e.g., bank transactions, prepaids, fixed assets, accruals)
- Track and manage fixed assets
- Prepare monthly accounts receivable invoicing and related reports
- Enter and code donation deposits across multiple systems
- Prepare and upload weekly Positive Pay bank files, resolve any exceptions
- Record ACH payments / receipts and apply cash to AR invoices
- Prepare weekly bank deposits
- Collaborate with CFO on month-end close
- Provide backup for Accounts Payable (including grant payments, phones, and mail distribution)
- Assist with year-end tax filings and financial audits
HR / Payroll Duties :
Accurately process bi-weekly payroll, including special payroll cyclesAssist with new employee onboardingSupport employees with timecard updatesReconcile benefit invoices to payroll reportsDistribute FMLA and short-term disability paperwork as neededUpdate life insurance vendor for employee changesNotify employees of retirement plan eligibilityAssist with preparation of annual multi-site reportsProvide additional administrative support as neededRequirements :
Associate degree in accounting, or equivalent experience1-3 years of relevant accounting / payroll experienceNon-profit experience is a plusFamiliarity with government grants is a plusAbility to maintain high confidentialityStrong multitasking abilities and attention to detailExcellent oral and written communication skillsCapable of budget analysis, preparing financial statements, concise reportingKnowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with automated accounting and payroll systemsRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
