Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to oversee daily field and logistics operations at Flagger RTM. The ideal candidate will coordinate teams, optimize resources (including fleet management), and ensure seamless execution of traffic control projects. This role focuses on driving efficiency, resolving bottlenecks, and supporting growth while integrating with safety and customer service functions to deliver reliable service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end operations : Coordinate with the Scheduling Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, Field Supervisor, and Trainer / Supervisor for efficient job deployment and execution.
- Monitor project performance : Track on-site efficiency, resolve operational bottlenecks (e.g., flagger shortages, delays), and ensure alignment with customer quotes and safety protocols.
- Optimize resources : Manage fleet and equipment allocation (e.g., vehicles, signs, cones), forecast staffing needs in collaboration with HR, and implement process improvements to reduce costs and timelines.
- Manage fleet operations : Oversee truck and vehicle inventory, including tracking usage, scheduling routine maintenance and repairs, coordinating with vendors for parts / services, and ensuring compliance with DOT vehicle standards to minimize downtime and support field reliability.
- Integrate with cross-functional teams : Partner with the Safety Supervisor for risk assessments, Customer Quotes Specialist for job scoping, and after-hours supports for seamless coverage.
- Drive team development : Conduct ops huddles, performance coaching, cross-training, and feedback sessions to boost productivity and morale.
- Report and analyze metrics : Prepare weekly / monthly KPIs (e.g., on-time completion, utilization rates) for GM / VP; identify trends and recommend enhancements.
- Ensure compliance and scalability : Support regulatory adherence in operations, manage vendor relations for supplies and fleet services, and plan for expansion (e.g., new regions or team growth).
- Promote operational excellence : Foster a collaborative culture through clear communication, tool adoption, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Daily / Weekly Workflows
Daily : Review job pipelines with the Scheduling Coordinator and Logistics Coordinator, spot-check field reports from the Field Supervisor, adjust schedules / resources for real-time issues, and conduct brief team check-ins.Weekly : Lead operations team meeting to review KPIs / dispatch rates, analyze post-job debriefs, update GM on performance, and plan fleet / equipment needs (e.g., review repair schedules).Monthly : Forecast staffing / ops needs, audit resource and fleet usage, propose process tweaks (e.g., routing optimizations), and report trends to leadership.Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in construction, logistics, traffic control, or field services.Strong knowledge of operational best practices, including scheduling, logistics, resource management, and fleet oversight (e.g., maintenance scheduling, inventory tracking).Proficiency in operations tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Asana / Monday.com for task tracking, Fleetio for fleet management).Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to motivate and coordinate field teams.Ability to analyze data / metrics (e.g., via Excel) and make data-driven decisions in fast-paced settings.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field, preferred (or equivalent experience).Detail-oriented with a focus on efficiency and team accountability.Preferred Skills
Experience in traffic safety / flagging operations or construction services, including fleet management.Bilingual (English / Spanish) for interactions with diverse field teams.Familiarity with safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, MUTCD) and inventory management systems.What We Offer
