This position involves using linguistic skills to analyze and interpret foreign language communications, identifying key information, and providing critical insights to support national defense.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze and translate foreign language communications
- Identify and categorize sensitive information
- Operate and oversee signals equipment used in signals intelligence operations
Requirements :
Must be a U.S. CitizenAged 17 to 34Hold a High School Diploma or GEDMeet specific tattoo guidelinesNo major law violations or medical concernsCertifications and Training :
Available certifications include 42 nationally recognized optionsBasic training is 10 weeksAdvanced individual training ranges from 5 to 20 weeksThe Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) requires an 85 or above score for active duty personnelA minimum ASVAB Score of 101 : Skilled Technical (ST) may allow bypassing the DLAB with an ST score of 129 or aboveEducation at the Defense Foreign Language Institute is required for 36-64 weeks if the soldier is not fluent in a foreign language
