Overview
Senior Staff Data Scientist, Trust and Anti-Abuse. This role focuses on mitigating harm from inauthentic accounts (fake accounts and account compromise / takeovers) and behavioral abuse (scraping, automation, and fake engagement). Accounts and Behavioral anti-abuse is a top priority at Trust, impacting the health of 's ecosystem by protecting member identity and social graph. The Trust Data Science team powers the mission of creating safe, trusted, and professional experiences on through rigorous metrics, experimentation, and advanced data solutions. The work location is hybrid, performed both from home and from a office on select days as determined by business needs.
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams to initiate, lead, and drive to completion large-scale / complex strategic projects for teams, departments, and the company.
- Act as a thought partner to senior leaders to prioritize / scope projects, provide recommendations, and evangelize data-driven decisions in support of strategic goals.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members on solution design and lead code / design reviews.
- Drive org-wide impact by shaping product and business strategy through data-centric presentations.
- Collaborate with data science and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, optimize product performance, or influence go-to-market strategy.
- Analyze large-scale structured and unstructured data; develop deep-dive analyses and machine learning models to drive member value and customer success.
- Design and develop core business metrics, create dashboards and visualizations to track them, and extract actionable insights.
- Design and analyze experiments to measure the impact of new Trust defenses, assess collateral impact on growth metrics, and quantify risks; translate results into recommendations and narratives to drive alignment.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure scalable, reliable, and discoverable data infrastructure powering experimentation and insights.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
B.S. in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Economics, etc.).5+ years of relevant work experience in anti-abuse / adversarial areas (e.g., Fake Accounts and ATOs).5+ years of experience with SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, Scala).2+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position.Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of overall experience with at least 5 years leading teams technically.Experience influencing strategy through data-centric presentations.Applied statistics and statistical modeling experience in at least one software package.Experience telling stories with data and visualization tools.Experience running platform experiments and A / B testing.Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, understand product priorities, and solve core problems efficiently.Experience manipulating massive-scale structured and unstructured data.Strong coding craftsmanship and experience coaching others; Unix, Git, and review processes knowledge.Experience leveraging government data or publicly available APIs; mentoring data scientists.Excellent communication skills to explain complex problems to executives and diverse audiences.Benefits and Other Information
The pay range for this role is $168,000 to $276,000. Actual compensation is based on factors including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and location. Content may also include bonuses, stock, and other incentive plans. For more information, visit the benefits page.
