Position Summary

The Counseling Center Training Director will provide direct clinical services to students including initial assessment, time-limited individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention, within a generalist and student-centered model of care. The Training Director will carry a caseload of approximately 15-18 clients per week, with flexibility based on clinical demand and trainee supervision needs.

This role will serve as the primary architect and leader of the UCC's advanced doctoral practicum program, with the goal of maintaining a cohort of three advanced practicum trainees from ACEPT-affiliated Chicagoland programs. Responsibilities include designing and implementing the training program in alignment with ACEPT standards, leading weekly didactic seminars, providing individual supervision to up to two doctoral trainees annually, and overseeing trainee evaluation and program development.

The Training Director will also support the Director in clinical leadership, program development, and representing the UCC in campus-wide mental health initiatives. Occasional outreach programming for students, faculty, and staff is also expected, with a focus on mental health literacy and suicide prevention. Candidates must be independently licensed at the doctoral level and have a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in Illinois (or another state with eligibility for IL licensure) to meet supervision requirements.

A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience as a licensed clinical psychologist is required to meet eligibility for supervising advanced doctoral practicum trainees. Three to five years of experience working within a university counseling setting is strongly preferred. Experience must include substantial provision of individual therapy, crisis intervention, and case consultation. Prior experience providing supervision to trainees is strongly preferred. Completion of a predoctoral internship at an APA-accredited university counseling center is also strongly preferred.

This full-time, on site, position reports to the Director of Counseling and Wellness.
