JOB SUMMARY :

The Mammography Technologist will be responsible for performing diagnostic mammograms and assisting with breast imaging procedures to support the early detection and diagnosis of breast conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, will have expertise in mammographic imaging, a strong commitment to patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Perform Mammograms : Perform high-quality mammographic imaging including screening and diagnostic mammograms to aid in the evaluation of breast health.
  • Patient Preparation : Prepare and position patients for mammography procedures, ensuring comfort and explaining the process to alleviate anxiety.
  • Image Acquisition : Operate Hologic Selenia Dimensions mammography equipment to capture detailed images of breast tissue, following established protocols to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  • Image Review : Operate the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to review and assess the quality of mammographic images, adjusting as needed to achieve optimal results and documenting findings.
  • Documentation : Accurately record patient information, imaging results, and technical details in electronic health records (EHR) and prepare preliminary reports for review by radiologists.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with radiologists, breast specialists, and other healthcare professionals to communicate findings and integrate mammography results into patient care plans.
  • Equipment Maintenance : Conduct quality control checks on mammography equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety; report any malfunctions or issues.
  • Safety Compliance : Adhere to radiation safety protocols, infection control procedures, and regulatory standards to maintain a safe and effective work environment.
  • Patient Education : Educate patients about mammography procedures, breast health, and follow-up care as needed, providing empathetic and informative support.

    • QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • Education : Associate or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Certification : Registered Radiologic Technologist from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and Mammography Technologist (RT(M)) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience : Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist, preferably in a clinical or outpatient setting.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in operating mammography equipment and PACS. ACR / MQSA certification and QC qualified a plus.
  • Clinical Skills : Proficient in performing various mammographic procedures with precision and strong understanding of breast anatomy, mammography techniques, and radiation safety practices.
  • Communication : Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Attention to Detail : High attention to detail and accuracy in performing and documenting mammography procedures.
  • Compassionate Care : Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient-centered care, especially in sensitive situations.
