Private Banking Portfolio Manager

Credit Portfolio Management Support

Provides support in the management of the credit portfolio within Private Banking, inclusive of risk grading, portfolio review, annual reviews, covenant monitoring, process improvement opportunities and related activities.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Support the overall credit health of the Private Banking portfolio, through activities inclusive of risk grading, portfolio review, covenant monitoring, and annual reviews, while helping ensure client-facing personnel fully own their relationships, including on the credit health side.
• Participate in working with Risk partners to define metrics around Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure portfolio management activities comply with Company risk policies.
• Work with Credit as required for defining and refining the credit process for Private Banking.
• Identify opportunities for improvements in the credit process within Private Banking to ensure a smooth and efficient process, inclusive of enhanced reporting, timeliness of annual reviews, identification of issues and collection of supporting information.
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required :

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years' financial services experience,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 9 years' high education and / or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' financial services experience

Credit training or equivalent experience

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Prior experience working in teams

Proficiency with pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software

Self-motivated, results-driven and well-organized individual

Experience handling multiple tasks and working under time constraints in support of various assignments

Experience functioning professionally at many different levels (clients, management and peers)

Strong interpersonal skills necessary for business partner relationships

Education and Experience Preferred :

Minimum of 5 years' financial services experience

Prior credit, lending and / or operational experience

Experience working individually as well as a member of a team

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $134,974.44 - $224,957.40 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
