We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Construction Inspector for road and bridge inspections. Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated & qualified individual, with experience in soil testing, quality assurance and quality control testing of materials related to soils and aggregates in the field.
Candidate should have a solid understanding of civil engineering principles with a geotechnical focus, and a desire to work on multi-disciplinary projects. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting various highway and / or bridge construction projects across New Jersey and the New York Metro, ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with established standards, specifications, and regulations.
How You'll Get To Contribute
- Material quality services are completed through field operations in all the major material disciplines as directed (soils, aggregate, metals, structures, asphalt, concrete coatings, and paints).
- Observe field work to ensure workmanship and materials meet standards.
- Inspection of testing of soils.
- Maintain project records.
- Prepare field boring logs in accordance with NJ Turnpike standards.
- Document daily inspections and various other reports.
- Provide daily inspections of highway and / or bridge construction projects and inspect related work materials to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and state regulations.
- Ensure that the contracted drilling firm carries out its work in accordance with contract specification.
- Monitor and document the progress of construction activities, identifying any deviations from the planned schedule or specifications.
- Coordinate with project team members, engineers, and contractors to address and resolve any issues that arise during construction.
- Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation on-site.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, including recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures.
- Attend meetings and conferences as needed.
- Travel to various job sites within 75 miles of Woodbridge, NJ.
Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.Familiar with ASTM, AASHTO and ACI standards for testing and inspections.Certifications / TrainingsOSHA 30American Concrete Institute (ACI) - Soil InspectorInternational Code Council (ICC) - Soil InspectorNew Jersey DCA CertifiedStrong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.Proficient in Microsoft Office and project / construction management software.Valid driver's license, consistent means of transportation to / from project sites, and willingness to travel to various project sites within New Jersey and New York.US Citizenship; Authorized to work in the United States.Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.Even Better (but Not Required)
3+ years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects and / or soil testing.Familiarity with gINT software.NICET I or II certification in Highway Construction Inspection or Construction Materials Testing Soils.Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.NJSAT and TCC / TCP Certifications.About MCFA
