Customs Entry Writer

The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for facilitating the accurate and timely submission of customs entries for clearance through U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Partner Government Agencies (PGA) for inbound freight shipments. This includes classifying products, determining tariff and duty payments and tracking inbound shipments.

Customs Entry Writer responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following :

• Serve as a customer advocate, committed to providing excellent levels of customer service and strong sense of accountability and urgency.
• Accurately classify products with the appropriate HTS code.
• Determine relevant duties and tariffs based upon valuation of goods using available government resources.
• Promptly prepare and submit all required government forms and customs entries in compliance with regulations.
• Prepares and executes billings for entry related services.
• Monitor shipments as they move through customs to ensure compliance at every stage. Report and resolve issues, delays and customs holds to minimize service charges.
• Works with transportation agents, Customs Border Patrol (CBP) and others to resolve rejections and requests for information pertaining to custom entries. Makes corrections and updates to entries as necessary.
• Handle customs correspondence post entry process and any other related clearance details / information.
• Stays up-to-date on all customs procedure, rules and regulatory changes.
