Description :
In a medical center or institutional setting, the Pharmacist reviews and interprets provider orders.
They provide drug information and assist in problem solving.
The Pharmacist delivers other aspects of pharmaceutical care.
Duties may include unit dose dispensing, IV Admixtures, and outpatient prescriptions.
They navigate the electronic medical record and may be involved in compounding.
The Pharmacist works with automated dispensing devices.
They utilize appropriate age-related patient information to assess the pharmaceutical needs of patients.
This may include provision of pharmaceutical care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
The Pharmacist follows all established regulations and standards that govern the practice of pharmacy.
They may act as a shift supervisor under direct or indirect supervision by department managers.
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Individuals must be able to learn and utilize new technology as the profession evolves.
The Pharmacist provides oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy services and pharmacy support personnel.
Pharmacy services may include involvement in acute care surgery, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, infusion services, intensive care, general medicine, dialysis, transplant, antimicrobial stewardship, and medication reconciliation.
This position may include decentralized clinical functions, such as direct patient interaction and interdisciplinary team rounding, chart reviews, customer or patient counseling, and collecting accurate medication lists.
Centralized clinical functions may also be included, such as checking and dispensing medications and overseeing the clinical functions of the IV room.
The equipment utilized include an electronic health record system.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to have at least one year of inpatient pharmacist experience.
ACLS certification is preferred.
Training will cover both clinical and dispensing pharmacist duties.
This position involves a well-rounded orientation on inpatient pharmacy practice.
Dress code is hospital-provided scrubs.
Training will be a minimum of 4 weeks.
The goal is to assist pharmacists in being successful in patient care and teamwork within the pharmacy team.
