For over 20 years, we have been serving the Bay Area, completing projects in the industrial and commercial sectors. As a growing business, we joined the IBEW Local 332 in 2022 to strengthen our delivery capabilities. We are now seeking an experienced leader to build and expand our estimating function. The ideal candidate will bring a value-driven mindset while honouring our commitment to exceptional customer service.

Position summary

Responsible for supporting project managers and clients by reviewing bid documents and preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates. As the lead estimator, you will be responsible for ensuring that a bid is complete and competitive working with multiple entities inside and outside the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Perform and / or review take offs of various electrical system, including low voltage and instrumentation and controls.
  • Lead other estimators assigned to project estimate.
  • Manage bid document flow during bid process.
  • Develop conceptual budgets based on design narratives.
  • Review specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Review all drawing disciplines : architectural, mechanical, and structural to ensure complete scope is captured.
  • Develop request for quotes and reviewing quotes for adherence to specifications.
  • Develop and foster relationships with subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Maintain drawing and estimate files within company software system.
  • Train and develop entry-level estimators.
  • Review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and / or availability of materials.
  • Review estimates with management team prior to submission to client.
  • Develop scope letter and bid forms detailing inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
  • Develop and review proposal documentation.
  • Interface with clients including attending post bid meetings.
  • Perform additional assignments per manager's direction.
  • Taking job specific training as necessary.
  • Create, maintain, and upgrade the company estimating system, database (units and prices) and assemblies.
  • Communicate and partner with team and client to ensure a high-quality estimate is delivered on time.

Essential Skills

  • Expert Accubid user
  • Trimble Viewpoint experience preferred.
  • Experience in all types of commercial and industrial projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude willing to work with multiple people on multiple projects.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization and clients when needed.
  • Time management to ensure estimates and tasks are completed by the deadlines and bid dates.

  • Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's in engineering or construction management preferred
  • Expert electrical and National Electrical Code (NEC) knowledge
  • At least 10 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial / industrial / high tech industry
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Expert experience in BlueBeam
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Able to work in the U.S.
