Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Interim Director of Emergency Department (ED) with current Alaska RN licensure and leadership experience in emergency services.
Responsibilities
Work in the Emergency Department including oversight of the Stroke Program, Trauma Program, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) ProgramLeadership position in a busy hospital ED settingResponsible for patient care operations, staff management, and program oversightDay shift schedule with 8-hour shiftsParticipation in nursing leadership and hospital management teamsLeads, mentors, and supports program coordinators and ED staffEnsures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standardsManages departmental budgets and staffing, including SANE and Trauma programsGuides performance improvement efforts and participates in departmental quality initiativesAssists with hiring, staff scheduling, payroll, appraisals, and recognitionMay participate in hospital and professional committees and community organizationsSupports ongoing professional development and staff competencyServes as resource for Medical Staff Committees and projectsRequirements
Active Alaska RN license requiredGraduation from an accredited Nursing ProgramBachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience may substituteCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, and BERT certifications requiredMinimum five years of current acute care nursing experience requiredAt least two years of supervisory or management experience in an ED preferredPrevious Director of ER experience requiredBenefits
