Summary :
Join our dynamic team as a Medical Laboratory Technician I, where you'll play a crucial role in performing clinical tests across various laboratory sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Your responsibilities will ensure accurate and timely test results while adhering to quality control and preventative maintenance protocols. You'll be a vital link between lab operations and patient care, helping to notify the medical team of any critical values.
Responsibilities :

- Provide service excellence that reflects our company's core values and philosophy.
- Collect, handle, and process specimens with precision through venipuncture and fingersticks, ensuring proper identification and labeling.
- Report results accurately and timely, recognizing errors and taking corrective actions for critical values according to our policies.
- Conduct tests and procedures across Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Chemistry, and other areas, utilizing automated laboratory analyzers effectively.
- Perform quality control and record performance improvement indicators, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Engage in routine preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and manage laboratory supplies efficiently.
- Seek opportunities for professional growth and contribute to the training of new associates and students.
- Adhere to CAP, AABB, Compliance, CLIA, JCAHO, and OSHA standards for safety and quality.
- Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) and hospital information systems (HIS) accurately for result management.
- Complete annual competency assessments successfully within designated timelines.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
Associates Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent experience fulfilling CLIA requirements :
Completion of a U.S. military medical laboratory training course (50 weeks) with current military medical laboratory specialist designation; OR
60 semester hours that include 24 hours of medical laboratory technology or science courses, meeting specific chemistry and biology criteria; ANDLaboratory training via an accredited clinical laboratory program or three months of documented training in each specialty for high complexity testing.Experience
No prior experience is required for graduates of approved clinical laboratory training programs.
OR
Six months of clinical laboratory experience, including a rotational experience in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis within the last five years.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Louisiana state licensure is required.New graduates must achieve Board Certification within one year of hire (Louisiana exempt).Work Schedule :
