Sustainability Intern

Job Description:

HITT Contracting, a Washington Post Top Workplace, seeks a summer intern to join our Sustainability team in the Falls Church, VA Headquarters office. While gaining firsthand understanding of a dynamic and fast-growing general contractor, this individual will provide administrative assistance to support the operations of the Sustainability Department. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, high-performing, and has strong communication skills. Key to this position is the ability to multi-task and to remain productive while working under multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support the sustainability team documenting compliance for projects that are pursuing Green Building Certifications including but not limited to: LEED, WELL, ILFI, DC Green Code, etc.
  
• Learn and review Embodied Carbon tracking requirements including the A1-A5 stages.
  
• Research relevant sustainability topics and give a final presentation to the department.
  

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited university with strongly preferred background in Construction, Engineering, or Architecture.
  
• Rising junior or senior preferred.
  
• Previous industry/work experiences a plus.
  
• Ability to work approximately 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week construction internship program.
  
• Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities in a deadline driven environment.
  
• Ability to actively participate in social events, weekly intern classes, and HITT culture activities.
  
• Ability to learn sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.). Procore, Adobe, BlueBeam, EC3.
  
• Exceptional customer and client focus, ability to succeed in a team environment.
  
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Strong positive attitude, ability to follow direction, take initiative, display desire to learn.
  
• LEED Green Associate credential preferred
