Internship Details

Duration : 11 weeks full-time

Dates of Internship : June 1 2026 - August 14 2026

Location : Houston TX

Hours : Monday - Friday : 7 : 00am 3 : 30pm

Compensation : Paid internship; relocation assistance available for qualified candidates

Eligibility : Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2026 through June 2028 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

About the Team :

The toxicology lab in Houston Texas operates a SAMHSA-certified drug testing laboratory and CAP and CLIA-certified clinical laboratory. Our comprehensive laboratory and testing services coupled with our commitment to excellent customer service ensures that our clients testing programs operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. We are committed to building strong relationships with our clients; being responsive to their questions and adaptable to their needs.

Internship Assignment Summary :

Perform tasks within multiple departments / areas of the Toxicology laboratory to include :

Receiving / Accessioning of specimens

Aliquoting of specimens for initial and confirmatory testing

Assisting Technologists with management of workflow and re-filling of reagents and QC (Screening Extractions and Mass Spectrometry)

Loading and unloading of initial testing batches onto the screening instrumentation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and supervisor guidance (Screening)

Maintain inventory of laboratory or instrument supplies and appropriate personnel or supervisor of any shortages

Follow proper chemical waste disposal procedures and handling of chemicals according to the safety manual and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) protocols

Follow chain of custody procedures with accuracy and consistency. Verify chain of custody and specimens received.

Perform and record instrument and equipment temperature maintenance and function checks.

Understand and comply with all laboratory and safety policies.

Education / Qualifications / Skills :

Working towards bachelors degree in chemistry biochemistry biology

Chemistry lab experience / proficiency preferred

Mass spectrometry experience preferred

Has experience delivering multiple projects in an academic or professional setting

Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and internal / external colleagues

Must be able to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast paced high-volume environment and while prioritizing and manage multiple tasks

Able to work independently under general supervision

Expressed desire and interest to work in a laboratory as a technologist after completing an undergraduate degree

Must be able to regularly lift carry and rotate / turn with up to thirty pounds
