Job Summary :
As a member of the instructional team, the Substitute Teacher will be responsible for facilitating student learning and supplementing direct instruction with computer-based instruction as needed. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction to students when a regular classroom teacher is not available. The Substitute Teacher will implement lesson plans, administer assessments and handle regular daily teaching responsibilities, such as taking attendance. Substitute Teachers will take on additional responsibilities, including the development of lesson plans, communicating with parents and other team members about student progress, and attending team meetings and professional development. In the classroom, the Substitute Teacher will be responsible for communicating knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner. He or she will use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to present material to students. The Substitute Teacher uses a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to teach content and skills to students in small- or pull-out groups. The Substitute Teacher regularly meets with students to advise and plan for students' individual learning plans, providing coaching and mentoring in an advisory capacity. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the delivery of curriculum, assessment, and classroom management that aligns with the school's vision, mission, and values while also meeting state and national academic standards. The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students, school personnel, and parents.
The Substitute Teacher works as a part of the instructional team in order to meet the needs of all students. The building of relationships are a critical component of this learning environment, the team works together to identify student needs that may be barriers to success. Teachers collaborate with team members to analyze different means of meeting student needs and communicates with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps.
