Overview

Madison Veterinary Specialists (MVS), a 24 / 7 AAHA-accredited specialty and emergency hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist (DACVO or Residency-Trained) to join our growing team. Location : Madison Veterinary Specialists, 2704 Royal Avenue, Madison, WI 53713.

Job Summary

You will play a key role in providing compassionate, advanced eye care to our patients while collaborating closely with our internal medicine, neurology, surgery, dermatology, oncology, and emergency / critical care departments. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the ophthalmology service in a supportive, collegial, and highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat the full spectrum of ophthalmic conditions in small animals
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic surgical procedures, including phacoemulsification
  • Proficient in utilization of equipment including a slit lamp biomicroscope, indirect ophthalmoscope, ERG, and operating microscope
  • Collaborate with our 24 / 7 ER and specialty teams on complex multi-discipline cases
  • Participate in case rounds, consultations, and referring veterinarian communications
  • Contribute to the clinical development and growth of the ophthalmology service
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and client communication
  • Assist with the mentoring of interns

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited program
  • Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO) or ACVO residency-trained
  • Eligible for Wisconsin veterinary licensure
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient care, and team collaboration
