Diesel Tractor Operator
Operates diesel-powered tractors with flatbed trailers to transport freight and ensure professional, on-time delivery across the continental United States. When not operating equipment, the position includes a variety of labor and administrative tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Safely operates equipment to pick up and deliver freight nationwide
- Secures and tarps freight
- Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits condition reports
- Maintains driver log in compliance with regulations
- Follows scheduled pickups and deliveries to ensure timely service
- Plans trips to maximize equipment efficiency
- Loads trailers to ensure proper weight distribution
- Follows safety and incident reporting procedures, notifying the Safety Department as needed
- Communicates professionally with the public, customers, and company representatives
Minimum Qualifications and Experience :
Strong coordination, time management, communication, critical thinking, and reasoning skillsAbility to exercise sound judgment and maintain positive working relationshipsAvailability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as requiredCurrent Commercial Driver's License Class AMinimum age of 23Successful completion of pre-employment DOT physical and drug screeningThorough understanding of applicable Department of Transportation regulationsMathematical Skills :
Ability to perform basic calculations using units of U.S. currency, weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense to follow detailed but straightforward instructions and resolve simple problems in standardized situations.
Computer Skills :
Ability to operate a laptop-based Global Positioning System (GPS).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License

While performing job duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and vibration. Use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and gloves is required.
