Safety and Training Coordinator

The City of Bothell's Employee and Technology Services Department is looking for a committed Safety and Training Coordinator to help advance the City's Safety Program and uphold a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance. In this position, you will take the lead in safety efforts, conduct critical training sessions, and ensure the City meets all applicable safety standards. What will you do in this position?

  • Plan, implement, and maintain City safety programs in compliance with OSHA, WISHA, and other regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate field safety practices, identify risks, and provide real-time coaching to staff.
  • Coordinate and deliver training on First Aid / CPR, Forklift Operation, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and CDL compliance.
  • Develop and adapt training materials for varying skill levels and background.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations (local, state, and federal) and ensure employee certifications and training records remain current.

A successful candidate in this position will :

  • Make timely and effective decisions, often with limited information and under tight deadlines and pressure, relying on a combination of analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Develop and strengthen internal and external relationships by collaborating to achieve effective agreements and foster mutual trust and goodwill.
  • Effectively convey information and ideas through various communication methods and practices active listening.
  • Identify new and different approaches to situations, problems, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence by effectively understanding others and leveraging interpersonal skills, including empathy and patience, to foster meaningful interactions.
  • Utilize a thoughtful and strategic approach to reduce conflict, fostering collaboration between individuals through appropriate communication methods and interpersonal techniques, while handling challenging situations with professionalism, impartiality, and objectivity.
