• Work night shifts in the 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
• 36 or 48 hours available per week
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Every other weekend required, must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays
• Christmas time off (12 / 24-12 / 25) cannot be approved
• Maximum 40 hours time off allowed per 13-week contract
• 2 : 1 patient ratio for all shifts
• 24 hours of orientation provided
• Must have 2 years of experience and patient ratio experience
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Required certifications : BLS and ACLS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacement / repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
• Work with adult and geriatric patient populations
• Manage complex equipment including ECMO, IABP, ventilators, PA catheters, and CRRT machines
• Perform specialized procedures such as arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and post-cardiac surgery care
• BSN preferred
• Virginia license required (pending licenses accepted but must be in-hand by Wednesday before start date) Facility : This major academic medical center operates a state-of-the-art 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU that serves patients requiring the highest level of cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical care. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation services. The medical center is equipped with advanced technology and specialized equipment to support complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, maintaining a daily census of approximately 19 patients in the CVICU.
