American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong titration skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 33-bed Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown) within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes young adults through geriatrics with diagnoses such as sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and complex medical issuesDay shifts are 12 hours (0630-1900); every other weekend and holiday coverage required as neededNurse-to-patient ratios range from 1 : 4 to 1 : 5RNs are required to titrate drips including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and InsulinRNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips; uses Epic EMRBiPAP and Airvo respiratory equipment are used on the unitFloat required to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care units as neededDress code requires navy blue scrubsThe unit experiences a busy patient flow with frequent admissions and discharges, often occurring within a 6-hour window alongside shift changesStrong sense of teamwork and a positive attitude are essential for success on this unitTravelers participate in classroom orientation followed by two 12-hour shifts on the unitCertified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are available with a typical ratio of 1 : 10; coverage varies based on censusRequired up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) must be submitted up front; additional RTO will not be approvedMust be committed to providing a positive patient experience with bedside reporting and hourly rounding\n \n Requirements\n
Active NE or compact RN license is required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent stepdown or progressive care experience requiredCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMust provide a driver's license for radius verificationMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility; previous full-time, part-time, or PRN employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities are not eligibleTwo references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 yearsPass a unit-specific, open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%Artificial nails not permitted for patient care\n Benefits\n
