PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : The Data Analyst / Database Specialist supports the data and reporting needs of a large membership organization, using technologies like UnionWare, Excel, Microsoft Power BI, and SharePoint. The role is critical for tracking and analyzing membership data to support union campaigns.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and analyze reports and dashboards using Excel and Power BI.
- Ensure data integrity through knowledge of relational databases, normalization, and performance tuning.
- Train staff on software tools (UnionWare, Microsoft Office) with tailored delivery approaches.
- Provide basic IT support (desktop troubleshooting, remote assistance, software installation)when needed.
- Collaborate with departments, translating user needs into technical solutions (reports,spreadsheets, dashboards).
- Document and improve information workflows across the organization.

High-level expert working knowledge and skills in Microsoft ExcelGood working knowledge and experience with Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) framework specifically in the context of Power BIExperience with modern integration API standards such as RESTful, web hooks, JSON parsing and understanding of HTTP requests and mechanicsMicrosoft Power BI Desktop, PBI embed, Azure PBI service and the entire ecosystem required to launch a fully functional end-to-end reporting solution based on Power BIMicrosoft SQL ServerAzure Analysis Services as data warehousing hosting platformAbility to work effectively with minimum supervisionAbility to effectively handle multiple tasksSuperior understanding of data structures and elements; queries and mechanics of a typical databaseExcellent data analysis skillsOn-prem DB gateway infrastructure and Azure DB replication techniquesAbility to train and support end users with all aspects of data retrieval; formatting, and basic data manipulation in Excel or WordAbility to engage and experience in DB architecture-level design projects for creating data scalable infrastructure to satisfy business needsPREFERRED EXPERIENCE :

Willingness to work irregular and long hours, including weekends and holidays, to attend required evening and weekend events / meetings.Extensive travel may be required, primarily within Northern California.DRIVING REQUIREMENTS :
Must possess a valid California drivers license; pass a DMV check, and have a good driving recordHave auto insurance that covers business driving (minimum of $100,000 per person / $300,000 per incident bodily injury liability / $50,000 property coverage); and must possess an automobile for business use.SALARY AND BENEFITS : The current salary range is $76,054.18 $124,917.00 and is based on qualifications and experience. SEIU Local 1021 offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
