American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity PCU Telemetry position with night shifts and strong infection prevention protocols.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with medical oncology and telemetry beds36-bed oncology telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level of carePatient population includes medical oncology, solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, thoracic oncology, and rare pediatric casesNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 for med-surg telemetry and 1 : 3 for PCUNight shift position (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-07 : 30), with D / N shift option availableSelf-scheduling requests are submitted and balanced prior to posting the final scheduleFloating required within units of equivalent or lower level of acuitySpecialized equipment includes GE B450 monitors, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanner, continuous bladder irrigation, PCA pumpsEMR system and specific EMR experience not specifiedDaily duties include providing progressive care nursing to oncology patients, advanced monitoring, and infection prevention focusFirst week consists of Monday to Friday dayshift orientation, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptorOpportunities for professional growth and flexible scheduling are availableLocals are accepted at the same rate as travelersRTO (requested time off) must be approved and built into the contract at time of considerationFormer employees may be considered if away from the facility for 6 months or longer, and current employees of the Ohio State University hospital system are ineligible for travel positionsStrict adherence to Ohio fingerprinting process required immediately after accepting the offerWeekend shifts are variable depending on unit needs\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationBLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of high-acuity PCU patient experience requiredOncology experience preferred but not requiredEducation must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited programRequired skills include dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, feeding tube management, port access, blood product administration, line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA, chest tube management, CPAP / BIPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy managementRequired to provide two professional references, at least one from a manager, director, or formal supervisor\n Benefits\n
