Job Summary :
The Construction Superintendent is the on-site leader responsible for managing the day-to-day field operations of federal construction projects, ensuring that work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all project specifications and government requirements. The Superintendent is the primary field contact for subcontractors, vendors, and quality control personnel, and works closely with the Project Manager and government representatives to coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee all on-site construction activities and ensure work is executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and federal agency standards (USACE, NAVFAC, VA, etc.).
- Maintain daily site operations and enforce site safety, cleanliness, and compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 standards.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, field staff, and material deliveries to ensure efficient workflow and minimize project delays.
- Participate in daily meetings and planning sessions with project teams, subcontractors, and government representatives.
- Work closely with the Quality Control Manager to support inspections, testing, and documentation for the Three Phases of Control.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily reports, labor and equipment logs, safety meetings, and field photos.
- Monitor and enforce job site safety, including conducting daily safety briefings and ensuring corrective actions are taken for any deficiencies.
- Identify and mitigate risks, delays, and potential conflicts through proactive planning and communication.
- Manage project schedule updates and assist with sequencing of trades to keep construction activities on track.
- Ensure all field changes are documented and communicated to the Project Manager for change management and contract compliance.

Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, a related discipline, or relevant work experienceMust speak English10 years of construction, with at least 5 of them being a superintendent on similar projects / project sizeEM 385-1-1 and experience in hazard identification & safetyExperience in interpreting critical path scheduling & drawingsExperience building high-rise residential, mixed-use, or higher education projects successfully from start to finish.2+ years leading, developing, and motivating teamsIn-depth knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and personnelDemonstrated experience leading field operations and communicating plans effectively across multiple audiencesWorking knowledge of applicable safety and building regulations (i.e., OSHA)Alignment to Standards of Excellence : self-motivated, results-oriented, adaptable, team player, accountable, ethical, innovative, resilient, builds relationships, builds people / teams and followership, sets direction, and executesPHYSICAL DEMANDS
