CDL Driver Job Summary
OP Nutrition (OPN), a wholly owned subsidiary of Indiana Packers Corporation, is looking for CDL Drivers to work at the feed mill in Peru, Indiana. The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of company products and materials between facilities and customer locations. This is a full-time, hourly position operating primarily during the day, with no overnight travel required. The driver must comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) regulations and is expected to represent the company with professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety.
Responsibilities :
- Operate company trucks in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including all DOT and INDOT requirements.
- Transport products and materials safely between company facilities, distribution centers, and customer sites.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain accurate electronic driver logs (ELD), trip reports, and shipping documentation in accordance with DOT standards.
- Ensure that all loads are properly secured and comply with weight, safety, and temperature requirements (if applicable).
- Follow established delivery schedules and communicate proactively with dispatch and the Transportation Manager regarding delays or route changes.
- Maintain a clean, organized vehicle and adhere to all company appearance and safety standards.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service when interacting with customers, suppliers, and team members.
- Participate in required safety meetings and ongoing driver training programs.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.Must meet all current DOT and INDOT driver qualification standards, including a valid medical certification, acceptable driving record and insurance approval.Minimum of 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience preferred (company may specify).Ability to conduct minor vehicle inspections and basic mechanical troubleshooting.Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.Work Environment :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on the site including exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud and hearing protection is required. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.

Must be able to safely enter and exit tractors and trailers and perform required load inspections.Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.Frequent walking, standing, use of hands and fingers, reaching with hands and arms, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling are required.Ability to climb stairs and ladders and occasionally work at heights.Must be able to occasionally lift and / or move up to 55 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.Must be able to use standard office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and copier as needed.Other Duties
