Designer

SNELLING is recruiting for a Designer/Drafter role with a design and manufacturing company in Tyler, TX that specializes in precision planning and design for ready-to-assemble building kits. With a full-capacity plant schedule through mid-year, our team of Designers and Estimators play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient, delay-free construction. The work environment is often described as a “library”—quiet and focused, ideal for those who thrive in minimal-contact settings. This role is probably best suited for an entry level candidate whose prior education and work experience demonstrate a strong ability in mathematics and an innate ability to visualize objects to be designed. Candidates with interest, training or some job experience in the following job titles may be a fit for this role: Designer, Architectural Drafter, CAD Drafter or AutoCAD Drafter.

Role Overview:
This role combines design work with the responsibility of preparing quotes, as directed by our new sales initiatives. While prior experience with drafting software (such as AutoCAD) is advantageous, we are committed to training the right candidate who demonstrates a passion for detailed, precise work in a quiet environment. Please note that AutoCAD is not used in this position and the position will require the Designer/Drafter to learn a new program.
This Designer/Drafter position will be temp-to-hire, meaning that SNELLING would work with you through the consideration and interview process and SNELLING would be your employer for a probationary period upon an offer being accepted.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed designs using our industry specific design software, ensuring accuracy and readiness for assembly
• Collaborate with estimators and contribute to preparing a minimum number of quotes per month as required by our sales team
• Produce high-quality visualizations and plans that enhance our efficient building kit production process
• Maintain meticulous attention to detail to minimize delays once construction begins
• Engage in continuous learning and training to refine design skills and software proficiency
• Work effectively within a team environment while also excelling in independent, focused tasks

Qualifications:

• Strong mathematical aptitude and excellent visualization skills
• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a quiet, low-interaction environment
• Introverted personality traits are a plus, as the role requires focused, independent work
• Proficiency or willingness to learn design software
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including both design and assisting in quote preparation
