Senior Food Technologist
Elk Grove, CA
MUST HAVES:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field (Master’s preferred)
3–5+ years of experience in fresh or frozen baked goods / food product development
Strong background in food manufacturing and plant operations
Proven experience leading product development from concept to commercialization
Expertise in formulation, process validation, and cross-functional collaboration
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Food Technologist to lead innovation and technical advancement across the tortilla category and related product lines. This role is ideal for a hands-on R&D professional who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and enjoys mentoring others while driving complex product initiatives from idea to launch.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development and commercialization of innovative products aligned with customer and marketing objectives
Translate customer requirements into actionable formulation and manufacturing plans
Oversee shelf-life studies, analyze data, and present technical recommendations
Supervise product testing, batching, and process validation with strong technical oversight
Validate manufacturing processes during plant trials and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Lead post-trial analysis and ensure data-driven optimization decisions
Coordinate and interpret sensory evaluations with cross-functional teams
Ensure regulatory compliance, nutrition labeling accuracy, and proper technical documentation
Drive cost optimization, line extensions, and operational efficiency initiatives
Provide technical feasibility analysis and support to Sales and Marketing
Mentor and train technologists in formulation, testing, and commercialization best practices
Support sustainability and quality initiatives within the innovation pipeline
What You Bring
Strong knowledge of food manufacturing operations and process improvement
Ability to manage multiple complex, multi-phase projects independently
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities across all organizational levels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
Flexibility to work non-standard hours and travel as needed for product launches and validations
