Position Overview

The Hattiesburg Zoo and Serengeti Springs are seeking an energetic, animated, and reliable individual to bring our beloved mascot, Ti, to life! As the face (and paws!) of our attractions, Ti spreads joy, excitement, and unforgettable memories to guests of all ages. This role involves engaging with the public in costume, participating in special events, photo opportunities, and performances—while upholding the friendly, welcoming spirit of the Zoo and Water Park.

Key Responsibilities

Portray Ti the Mascot in an enthusiastic, animated, and professional manner at all times.

Interact with guests in a warm and engaging way, including posing for photos, waving, dancing, and using expressive body language to convey Ti’s personality.

Participate in parades, meet-and-greets, and special events both onsite and offsite.

Work closely with HCC Marketing & Guest Services to ensure smooth guest interactions, crowd management, and safety.

Maintain costume cleanliness, appearance, and proper storage between performances.

Stay in character at all times while in costume, following established guidelines for Ti’s persona.

Assist with basic event setup or breakdown as needed.

Promote Zoo and Serengeti Springs programs, events, and conservation messages in a family-friendly way.

Qualifications

Outgoing personality with strong non-verbal communication skills.

Physically able to perform in a full-body costume for extended periods, often in warm outdoor conditions.

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, twist, and maintain high energy levels.

Reliable and punctual, with a professional work ethic.

Comfortable performing in front of large crowds and interacting with children and families.

Previous experience in theater, dance, cheerleading, or mascot performance is a plus, but not required.

Schedule & Hours

Part-time, seasonal, and event-based schedule.

Weekend, holiday, and occasional evening availability required.

Shifts vary based on event calendar and weather.
