Job description

Assistant Controller

Location : Columbus, OH

Type : Full-Time | Onsite | Direct Hire

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000 (based on experience)

A well-established automotive dealership in the Southeast Columbus area is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead core accounting operations and support financial strategy. This is a high-visibility role ideal for someone with a strong general ledger foundation, hands-on month-end close experience, and a passion for mentoring others.

What You'll Be Doing :

  • Oversee general ledger accounting, payroll, and title functions
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and dashboards for leadership
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting cycles, partnering with department heads to align financial goals
  • Monitor dealership performance metrics and provide insights to support operational decisions
  • Supervise accounting staff, providing coaching, oversight, and development opportunities

    • What You Bring :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in automotive / dealership environments
  • Strong general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting skills
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience
