Medical Assistant
Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant to join our Dermatology team in Stillwater, MN. This is a 0.9 FTE (72 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening. Clinic Hours of Operation are Monday-Thursday : 7 : 00AM-6 : 00PM and Friday : 7 : 00AM-5 : 00PM. NO WEEKENDS! This position is eligible for up to a $2000 New Hire Sign On Bonus!
As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients / families.
Responsibilities include :
- Delivering care as delegated by the physician / authorized practitioner or RN, to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
- Following the patient's plan of care.
- Prioritizing work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient / family preferences, provider schedule, in collaboration with the physician / authorized practitioner and other health care team members.
- Performing high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting includes medication administration, assistance with CPR, assistance with procedures and may include lab draws.
- Recognizing when different approaches may be needed based on age or cultural differences.
- Implementing assigned aspects of the patient teaching plan.
- Documenting care in the medical record.
- Effectively communicating compliance and concerns to delegating physician / authorized practitioner / RN.
- Taking action to assure continuity of care for all assigned patient.
- Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
- Responding appropriately to emergent situations.
- Functioning as care team assistant as needed.
- Communicating effectively with other members of the health care team.
- Communicating verbal and written information in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner.
- Using communication approaches appropriate to patient / family needs.
- Respecting and ensuring the confidentiality of all information regarding patients, staff members or Fairview business issues. Sharing information only with those who need to know.
- Demonstrating ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.
- Partnering with patient / caregiver in care / decision making.
- Communicating in a respectful manner.
- Ensuring a safe, secure environment.
- Individualizing plan of care to meet patient needs.
- Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
- Providing patient education based on assessment of learning needs of patient / caregiver.
- As a member of the care team, continuously improving work processes, environment, and the overall experience to serve customers and meet business goals :
- Identifying opportunities for improvement in workflow.
- Participating in meetings to support initiatives.
- Communicating appropriately with team members.
- Engaging in change to improve the work environment and patient experience.
Required Qualifications include :
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN Program is required.Non-Certified Applicants with less than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have graduated from an accredited school with a clinical externship.Basic Life Support Certification is required.Preferred Qualifications include :
Ambulatory Care Experience is preferred.AAMA Certification is preferred.Benefit Overview :
