The Montgomery College, Adult ESOL & Basic Skills for College and Careers Program , is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching in-person ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Food Handler certification classes in an educational setting located within a maximum-security correctional facility and detention center . This particular teaching opportunity is part-time and is located at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds, MD and the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville, MD. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities :
Montgomery College is seeking a Certified ServSafe instructor for its in-person ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Food Handler certification classes . The instructor will be responsible for :
Teach two (2) 3-hr ServSafe Food Handler courses monthly at Montgomery County Correctional Facility : (1) 8am-11am and (2) 1pm-4pm or 6pm-9pm.Teach two (2) 3-hr ServSafe Food Handler courses monthly at Montgomery County Detention Center : (1) 8am-11am and (2) 1pm-4pm or 6pm-9pm.Teach two (2) 3-hr ServSafe Manager courses over 5 days, bi-monthly minimum, at Montgomery County Correctional Facility : (1) 8am-11am and (2) 1pm-4pm or 6pm-9pm.Teach all areas required for completion of ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Food Handler certification.Conduct testing through scantron; submitting to ServSafe and providing results and certification.Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives.Abiding by all College policies and procedures.Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the Montgomery County Department of Corrections.Required Qualifications :
ServSafe Instructor Certification for Manager and Food Handler instruction.A minimum of 2 years teaching ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Food Handler classes.Experience working with individuals from varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, preferably in a correctional setting.Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective instruction to adult learnersSuccessful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience providing high quality instruction in a correctional setting.As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire :
Successful completion of 2 background checks – one with the College and one with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.Successful completion of a 2-day orientation with the Maximum-Security Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
