Overview
The AVP of Business Intelligence Strategy & Platforms Engineering will lead and cultivate a data-driven decision-making mindset that accelerates business outcomes by unlocking strategic insights across the organization. This role involves developing, communicating and executing a comprehensive business intelligence strategy that is governed, well balanced and fosters collaboration and innovation among the developer community and users to strengthen decision?making capabilities and position GM Financial for long-term success. The role collaborates with senior leadership and stakeholders to identify key business questions and opportunities that can be addressed through Data & Analytics solutions, data literacy, data democratization and self-service reporting & analytics capabilities. A strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen is required to shape the future of GM Financials Data and Analytics initiatives, with a focus on data consumption from the Data Lakehouse through BI platforms and their adoption.
Responsibilities
- Possess an advanced understanding of GM Financials Data Lakehouse (on Azure Databricks) functions, processes and standards.
- Understand, communicate and commit to the Organization's vision, goals and strategies.
- Prioritize, communicate clearly, and monitor the successful and timely completion of Data Lakehouse & BI initiatives for quality outcomes.
- Support leadership in making informed decisions by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Cybersecurity, Privacy, Compliance and Audit to align strategies and achieve objectives.
- Make timely decisions related to conflicts and / or issues requiring immediate attention.
- Use advanced technical and project management skills to implement best practices, standards, and procedures to improve consistency, efficiency and maintainability.
- Manage the development and implementation of new or enhanced systems projects or programs including Data Lakehouse and BI projects.
- Lead the creation, execution and organization of team members functions, monitor performance and drive process improvement.
- Use appropriate metrics and other data to monitor processes and outcomes.
- Provide leadership, direction, management, and evaluation of team performance.
- Oversee career development, education, assignments, and adherence to best standards for team members.
- Interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures; collaborate with Data Lakehouse and BI teams to implement complex data integration requirements.

- Assist Data Analytics leadership in determining the annual business plan and budgetary requirements; manage plans to ensure compliance and completion.

Develop and communicate a comprehensive BI strategy leveraging Power BI and Cognos aligned with company objectives, incorporating Gen AI-driven solutions to enhance data analysis, troubleshoot process problems, and drive process improvement through predictive capabilities and data transformation.Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key business questions and opportunities addressed through Gen AI and semantic layer modeling; present recommendations to senior management.Lead and mentor a team of BI Developers and BI Systems Analysts, providing leadership and guidance to deliver high-quality insights and reliable BI platforms.Oversee the development and maintenance of BI solutions ensuring data quality, consistency, security, and accessibility; support data extraction using SQL, Cognos or Informatica and manage data files / databases.Translate complex requirements into functional specifications with BI developers and data warehouse teams.Drive data modeling, semantic models, dashboards, and reports that provide actionable insights; leverage Gen AI for enhanced visualization and interpretation.Evaluate and implement cutting-edge BI tools and Gen AI technologies to enhance analysis, visualization and transformation capabilities.Ensure integration of data from diverse sources for a holistic view; use Gen AI for data wrangling, synthesis, and transformation as needed.Collaborate with department heads to understand BI needs and design end-to-end solutions supporting decision-making.Define and track KPIs to measure BI platform effectiveness and adoption; recommend optimization and automation opportunities.Regularly assess analytics solution performance and opportunities for improvements, testing programs, and optimization.Qualifications
5-7 years of work experience in Finance, Lending or related industry.7-10 years of hands-on experience in Data and Analytics, BI, Data Quality, Data Modeling, Data Loading and Architecture of Data Lakehouse and Data Marts.7-10 years experience dealing with multiple business units and diverse employee populations.7-10 years of previous supervisory experience.What We Offer

Compensation & Work Life
