Job Summary

HCA Florida Healthcare – East Florida Division, is seeking a dynamic physician leader interested in medical education to be part of our Gastroenterology Residency program at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital as Core Faculty. Our division encompasses 44 residency and fellowship programs across 9 teaching hospitals and we continue to grow our UME and GME footprint. Our mission is to provide learners with the highest quality training experience, maintain excellent outcomes, engage in research and scholarship, and retain our graduates as future practicing physicians and teachers within HCA.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model for future physicians by demonstrating compassion, a commitment to excellence in teaching and patient care, evidence-based medicine, professionalism, and lifelong learning.
• Provide residents with level and skill appropriate supervision and promote patient safety, cost-effective care, and progressive resident responsibility and independence.
• Create an effective learning environment with open communication that is free of fear of intimidation or retribution and attend to resident well‑being.
• Demonstrate strong interest in resident education; regularly participate in organized clinical discussions, didactics, rounds, journal clubs, conferences, and other educational activities as assigned by the Program Director.
• Pursue annual development of teaching, mentoring and administrative skills related to education, well‑being, practice‑based learning and improvement, and other areas applicable to GME.
• Support program leadership in developing, implementing, assessing and improving parts of the curriculum, resident assessment and mentorship, resident engagement in scholarship, and other important tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
